"I LOVE Buddha!"

After five months in China, the girls know a bit about Buddha, and are quite used to seeing paintings and etchings and statues of Buddha. When we took Zoe to visit her school -- her Catholic school -- Maya was with us, and as we entered the building there was a painting of Jesus, but kind of in a Russian-icon way. Maya looks at it and says, "Buddha! I LOVE Buddha!" We're bound to be excommunicated any minute now. . . .

Maya is sooooo funny! At least she remembers gold pictures/sculptures are buddhas.
Maya always manages to bring smiles to my face...and grandpa's too!

Ok, that is hilarious. My excomunicable moment came at Mass (which we don't attend with any regularity) when my little one points at the crucifix during a quiet time and says, "What happened to THAT guy?" Quietly, I explained "That is Jesus and some bad guys killed him." Then later, even louder, "Now, WHO shot Jesus?" Talk about wanting to melt into the ground...
